SmartPhone & PDA Cables
To
many the worst part of getting any new electronic toy is navigating the spaghetti behind the computer to get it plugged in...finding an open
port...discovering that four of the cables that are there aren't connected to anything, etc., etc., etc. How many of you remember the days before
USB? Hmmmm....guess I have to put another card in to get a couple more RS232 ports...LOL...
Fortunately however USB has come along, but somehow we still have the tangled mess...not to mention the three power strips all stacked up...
But alas that is the reality if you like having lots of electronic toys...figuring out how to connect them to the PC...how to keep them charged, etc...
At least a lot of the portable device manufacturers are finally getting smarter...chargers that use the USB standard, etc.
Another reality that seems to accompany any electronic hobby is the almost immediate obsolescence of devices and platforms. Just when you
think you have the latest, coolest, something else comes out. And as soon as it does the manufacturers and retailers discontinue not only the
device, but all the accessories that go with it. Yet for those of us using it, we still need cables, chargers, cases, etc. Thankfully the
internet came along and with it a lot of sites supporting all the "old stuff". For those fo you searching endlessly I hope the following links
will help you find that "hard-to-find" cable.
Universal Cables/Current Cables
If you are just looking for a simple, standard USB cable, or charger for an iPod or other SmartPhone or portable devices, these are a few sites that
we have had good luck with. They have a good selection and good prices...and from what we have experienced at least decent customer service.
Old Palm & PDA Cables
If you are looking for a synch cable, charger, mobile adaptor, etc. for an older Palm, Clie or other PDA we know our friends at StyliSource.com &
StylusCentral.com still have inventory for a lot of older models.
Wrap It Up
Hopefully we have helped you find some new "pasta" for the back of your computer... And while you are at it, why not take care of some of the
old cables and "dust bunnies"?
